In this training, Mental Health and Social Workers in California will learn the requirements and protections of the Child Abuse & Neglect Reporting Act. Pre- and post-license mental health professionals, counselors, and social workers will learn about their role as mandated reporters.

This training consists of five lessons, each of which will conclude with questions to test your knowledge of the material. You will learn profession-specific information, considerations, and scenarios unique to mental health professionals, as well as:

  • The role of mental health professionals in preventing child abuse and neglect
  • Different types of child abuse and neglect and how to recognize them
  • Laws and protections for children with disabilities
  • How to report suspected or known child abuse
  • The timeline of events that follow a report
