Know2Protect, in collaboration with Simple Learning Systems, has created an online training to address critical knowledge gaps about Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.

The Know2Protect Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Training aims to educate and empower children, teens, parents, trusted adults, and policymakers to prevent and combat online CSEA.

What is Online CSEA?

Online child sexual exploitation and abuse (CSEA) is a horrific crime that targets some of the most vulnerable people in our communities: our children and teens.

The threat has never been greater.

Kids aged 8-12 spend up to six hours per day online; screen time increases to nine hours daily for teens.

The internet is the modern playground, and online predators go where children go to make initial contact and begin rapport-building. Meeting places often include the top chat apps, online games, and social media platforms where children and teens spend their time.

In the last decade, CSEA has increased exponentially and has become a global epidemic.

The lack of understanding of online CSEA and increased technology use among children and teens creates space for these crimes to flourish.

The Department of Homeland Security is working to help people understand these online dangers — and how to counter the threats children face — through efforts like the Know2Protect campaign.

Combating CSEA Through Training and Collaboration

The DHS Know2Protect campaign utilizes outreach programs to educate the public about the growing threats children and teens face online through in-person and virtual training.

Know2Protect has collaborated with Simple Learning System to create an Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Training and distribute it within Simple’s Mandated Reporter Training platform.

Simple Learning System’s Mandated Reporter Training platform is helping to combat abuse and neglect of vulnerable populations by providing abuse recognition and reporting training for mandatory reporters.

Know2Protect’s Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Training provides information on how to recognize, respond to, and report online sexual exploitation and abuse of children and teens.

How to Access the Online CSEA Training

Know2Protect’s Online CSEA Training is available to the public at no cost. The online, on-demand training takes approximately 20 minutes to complete.

After completing the training, the platform generates a certificate of completion at no cost.

Know2Protect Online CSEA Training is intended for anyone who wants to learn more about protecting children and teens from this risk. It’s recommended for parents, teachers, law enforcement officers, mental health and social workers, medical professionals, and any adult concerned about the safety of children under their care and supervision.

Stopping online CSEA requires awareness and education. Know2Protect is aiming to educate and empower children, teens, parents, trusted adults, and policymakers to prevent and combat online CSEA, explain how to report online enticement and victimization, and offer response and support resources for victims and survivors of online child sexual exploitation and their supporters.

Explore the Know2Protect Online CSEA training at the Mandated Reporter Training platform.
