New CE Nursing Course Provides Advanced Skills for CA PHNs

Mandated Reporter Training courses satisfy continuing education (CE) requirements for registered nurses in CA. Public health nurses (PHNs) have extended CE requirements, and now Mandated Reporter Training is helping PHNs meet their 7-hour requirement with a new advanced skills course.

This advanced skills course is designed for Public Health Nurses in California who must complete extended training hours in mandatory child abuse and neglect reporting.

PHNs: Meet the 7-Hour Mandated Reporter Training Requirement

PHNs in California must meet 7 hours of mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect training as a licensing requirement.

PHNs can meet the full 7-hour requirement and earn CE credits from an approved continuing education provider by taking two complimentary trainings at the Mandated Reporter Training platform.

Please note: you must complete both trainings to fulfill the 7-hour requirement for Public Health Nurses in CA.

Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse for Registered Nurses Advanced Skills

The Registered Nurses Advanced Skills training will enhance your understanding of disparities in reporting as well as how implicit bias can affect the reporting of suspected child abuse and neglect.

Additionally, you will gain valuable insights into effectively supporting children in your care who have experienced abuse or neglect.

This advanced skills course takes 3 hours to complete.

The Registered Nurse Advanced Skills training builds on the foundational information provided in the Mandated Reporter Training of Child Abuse and Neglect course to provide PHNs with additional education relevant to their role.

Understand the historical development and evolution of child protection laws, as well as why it is crucial to identify key legislation and landmark cases that have shaped child protection policies over time. Discover how these laws have impacted current child protection practices.

Discover the Impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) leave short and long-term effects on the physical, emotional, and psychological health of children. Understand the relationship between ACEs and risk factors for future health and social problems while learning strategies to mitigate the impact of ACEs through early intervention and supportive care.

Explore Disparities in Mandated Reporting

Recognize the role and responsibilities of mandated reporters in child protection while identifying the disparities in reporting practices among different demographics and regions.
