PHNs in California must meet 7 hours of mandated reporting of child abuse and neglect training as a licensing requirement.
PHNs can meet the full 7-hour requirement and earn CE credits from an approved continuing education provider by taking two complimentary trainings at the Mandated Reporter Training platform.
- Earn 4 CE hours with the Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse for Registered Nurses training, a profession-specific course designed to help registered nurses understand their role as mandated reporters and receive training to identify and report suspected abuse.
- Earn 3 CE hours with the Mandated Reporting of Child Abuse for Registered Nurses Advanced Skills training, which covers the history of mandated reporting laws and the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), implicit bias in healthcare, and providing trauma-informed care for victims of abuse.
Please note: you must complete both trainings to fulfill the 7-hour requirement for Public Health Nurses in CA.
